Ending on a High Note

I thought I should take a minute to add an update and let the blogosphere know that I made it back to the real world. I have been out of the country and, at times, it felt like I was out of this world.

I couldn't be happier to be back here. I am ending this year on a high note... Spending some great time with my man and my kids and enjoying every bit of home.

Me & Mine

I just finished training and got a wonderful surprise.  The family decided to drive out to VA to spend a couple days with me before I head out of the finally leg of my trip overseas.  It's awesome to see them and get to spend some time together as a family.  VA beach made for some wonderful and relaxing family time.  There is nothing like sitting on a beach, just me & mine, enjoying the water and the summer sun.
Saying goodbye again will be sad but spending this time together was well worth it.

I made The JoyfulBoy this shirt for Christmas. I figured he'd wear it around the house a few times out of obligation. It was super easy and I really made it as a joke. It's just a plain black tee, with iron on letters. From the front it looks like tour standard security shirt.

Imagine my surprise when I caught him wearing ti in public. He is truly worthy of handmade gifts. Truly.

I am not sure how it happens but I get sucked in to remnant sales every time.  I think this is my best find yet ... good quality fabric, great colors and plenty of coordinating patterns.  It the perfect way to battle this dreary weather we have been having.
I am hitting a big sale at the LFS tomorrow.  Good stuff!

Need I say more?

Snow Day!!!

Today started out like any other.  The alarm went off at 0445 and I rolled out of bed and started coffee.  Surprisingly, I was happy when I was greeted by an extrodinary amount of snow outside.

The day end up being quite pleasant.  The scene was beautiful ...

and, it was fantastic opportunity to spend some time with my angels.

It was an absolutely perfect day.

Selfish Crafter

After spending so much time knitting gifts for Christmas, it's time to focus on my for a bit. I really enjoyed the hats, gloves and scarf I made but I need to finish a few things for myself. I have two Pair of socks on the needles and a sweater calling me too.

I am just about finished with my hand spun socks and then it will be on to the last pair of club sock I started from last year. I have a hard time starting new things when the old stuff is laying around. I feel like I need to close out 2010 still.

This hasn't stopped me from spinning a bit though...

Happily enjoying my selfish crafting!

Crafting 'til the last minutes

One of the gifts I made this season that made me the most proud was the bar towels I made for DH. They were a LOT simpler than I expected and I knocked them out in one day... Probably a totally of two hours to complete four from start to finish.
They are just cotton hand towels, backed with terrycloth. I figured I would ad the terrycloth for absorbency - they are bar towels after all.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, friends!  Best wishes to you and yours for a happy, healthy and prosperous 2011.
